Clifton E. 'Speed' Holland Jr., 80

DAGSBORO - Clifton E. "Speed" Holland Jr. of Dagsboro died Monday, Jan. 15, 2007, in Harbor Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, Lewes. He was 80.

Mr. Holland was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was a retired sales clerk, retiring in 1988.

Mr. Holland was past commander of Mason Dixon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7234, Ocean View; past president and life member of the Dagsboro Volunteer Fire Co.; and a member of the Burnt Swamp Sportsman Association, Gumboro.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton E. Sr. and Clara (Huggerth) Holland; his wife, Pearl (Baker) Holland; a son-in-law, Harold Swafford; two sisters, Vera Parsons and Edith Riggleman.

He is survived by a son, Clifton E. "Buddy" Holland III and his wife, Dorothy of Dagsboro; three daughters, Sue E. Bonaventure and her husband, Dan of Laurel, Barbara Jo Hudson and her husband, Perry of Millsboro and Sandie K. Swafford of Lewes; a brother, Joseph Holland and his wife, Sylvia of Denton, Md.; a sister, Janice Minnick of Easton, Md.; his grandchildren, Dwayne Swafford, Wade Swafford, Holly Webster, Carrie Hellens, Pam Wisniewski, Kim Pettyjohn, Allen Hazzard, Hunter Holland, David Olds, Perry Hudson Jr., Polly O'Day; and his great-grandchildren, Ashley, Amanda, Amy, Derek, Cameron, Lily, Miranda, Mason, Olivia and Cash.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call two hours earlier.

The Rev. Robert A. Hudson will officiate.

Burial will be in Dagsboro Redmans Cemetery.
