LAUREL - The Honorable Rep. Clifford G. "Biff" Lee, age 66, of Laurel, passed away on December 2, 2014 after his battle with metastatic melanoma at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. "Biff" was born in Wilmington, a son of the late Clifford F. Lee and Janet Godwin Lee of Laurel. Mr. Lee was a former State Representative in Delaware for 22 years, serving as the Majority Whip for eight years (2001-2008). He retired from the Delaware State Police and had also served in Taiwan in the United State Air Force. Biff was a former Laurel Town Council member and a lifetime member of the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as past president and Rescue Lt. He was also past president of the Sussex County Fire Fighters Association. Mr. Lee was a member of Delmarva Football Officials Association for 48 years, including serving as past president and Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association Committee. Mr. Lee proudly served his town of Laurel, as a member in the Lions Club, American Legion and Laurel Alumni Association. He graduated from Laurel High Schools Class of 1965. He was active in the Laurel and Newark Little Leagues as a coach, player and umpire. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church (1959) in Laurel, active in the Sunshine Sunday School Class and as a Finance Officer. Cherished family memories include his love of the Laurel Lady Dogs Softball team, NASCAR, Yankees and Saints. Mr. Lee is survived by his mother, Janet Godwin Lee of Laurel; his sons, Brad Clifford Lee and wife Opal of Laurel and Brent Lee of Laurel; his brothers, Randy Lee and wife Ann of Laurel and Tommy Lee and wife Sandy of Laurel; grandchildren, Kortney Lee, Brina Lee and Brady Clifford Lee; his longtime companion, Virginia Whaley of Laurel; several nieces and nephews also survive him. "Biff" was preceded in death by his father, Rep. Clifford F. Lee; and a baby brother. A Funeral Service will be 3 p.m., Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Centenary United Methodist Church, 200 W. Market Street, Laurel, DE 19956, where a visitation will also be held from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. The Rev. Joseph Burris and Rev. Tim Dukes will officiate. Interment with State Police and Fireman honors will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Laurel. Contributions can be made to Centenary United Methodist Church 200 W.
