Clem R. Johnson Jr., 70

DOVER - Clem R. Johnson Jr. of Dover passed away Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008, in Capitol Nursing Home, Dover, where he resided for the last seven years. He was 70.

Born in Philadelphia on Sept. 17, 1937, while his mother was visiting an aunt, Clem was raised in Wyoming.

He was the son of the late Melissa (Holden) Johnson and Clem R. Johnson Sr.

Clem attended the Golden Opportunity Center, Kent-Sussex Industries Inc., and the Easter Seals Adult Day Center.

He loved his family, friends, music, dancing, parties and eating.

Clem's hobbies included collecting baseball cards, baseball caps and Legos.

He will be remembered as a gentle, loving and kind spirit who made friends wherever he went.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Anna May LeCompte Johnson.

He is survived by his sister, Lois (Johnson) Finley and her husband Ted of Dover; two nieces, Julie O'Connor of Wyoming and Gwendolyn Mulcahy of Baltimore; three great-nephews, Liam and Aidan O'Connor, both of Wyoming, and Mitchell Mulcahy of Baltimore: two stepbrothers, Les LeCompte of Dover and Brit LeCompte of Lynchburg, Va.; his three favorite cousins, Karen Janus of Middletown and Shirley and Dick Betz, both of Warminster, Pa.; and a kind friend, Natalie Iobst of Clayton.

The family is also grateful to the dedicated staff at Capitol Nursing Home for their diligent care of Clem during his illness.

Funeral services will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Kent Sussex Industries, 301 N. Rehoboth Blvd., Milford, DE 19963.

Arrangements are by Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming.
