HARRINGTON - Christine Marie (Hutson) Maloney of Harrington died peacefully in her sleep, after a courageous battle with diabetes over several years, Friday, Dec. 15, 2006, in her home in the arms of her husband and surrounded by her siblings. She was 58.
Mrs. Maloney was born Sept. 17, 1948, in Milford, daughter of the late Carl Edward Sr. and Dorothy Marie (Donophan) Hutson.
She graduated from the former Felton High School.
She was retired from Playtex Products, and also had worked for the Milford School District.
Mrs. Maloney enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her husband. Fishing expeditions and zoo trips were a real treat for the grandchildren. She had spent the last several months in a nursing home, but was taken home by her family to spend her final hours. She had talked recently of a visit from her daughter, Lesa, and angels. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, William and Georgia (Larimore) Donophan; paternal grandparents, Carl Sr. and Mary Alta (Seward) Hutson; a daughter, Lesa Marie Knox, Dec. 26, 1975; a granddaughter, Samantha Marie Knox, March 9, 1998; and a grandson, Timothy Earl "TK" Knox, Feb. 15, 2005.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 18 years, Dennis Lee Maloney; two sons and a daughter-in-law, James Knox, and Stephen and Christina Knox; two granddaughters, Amanda "Manny" Knox and Eva Knox; two grandsons, James "Bucky" Benton and Stephen Knox; four stepchildren, Denny Maloney, Amy Maloney, P.J. Maloney and Chris Maloney; three stepgrandchildren, Michael, Caitlynn and Kathern; her stepmother, Rose Hutson of Henderson, Md.; six sisters and five brothers-in-law, Lois Ann and Jeff Burns of Felton, Phyllis and Glenn Wright, and Kathy Voshell and John Boole, all of Wyoming, Sheri Daley of Denton, Md., and Teresa "Kaye" and Kenny Kemp, and Patricia "Pat" and Steve Wyatt, all of Felton; four brothers and four sisters-in-law, James "Bill" and Cathy Hutson of Lincoln, Carl "Eddie" and Lorraine Hutson of Felton, Ronald and Lisa Hutson of Orlando, Fla., and Rick and Nancy Hutson of Greensboro, Md.; 14 nieces; 10 nephews; several very special aunts and uncles; and a VITAS Hospice nurse who became her friend and counselor, Vickie Heverin.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in Berry-Short Funeral Home, Main Street, Felton.
Services will be noon Tuesday in the funeral home.
Burial will be in Milford Community Cemetery.
