LONG NECK - Chester H. Kozieja of Long Neck, formerly of Chester, Pa., died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007, at Harrison House, Georgetown. He was 88.
Chester was born and educated in Camden, N.J., schools, and was self-employed, retiring from Union Local 12 of Pennsylvania Bricklayers and Trowel Trades.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Marines as a sergeant at the Marshall Islands, Saipan-Tinian, Iwo Jima, in the central Pacific.
Chester was a member of Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church, serving as a lector for many years and also as a member of the church prayer group.
He was also a member of American Legion Post 28 of Oak Orchard.
Chester was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Phyllis, in 2004; three sons, Leonard, Francis and Robert; and a sister, Dorothy Battick.
He is survived by his daughter, Felicia Ruskowski of Folcroft, Pa.; three grandsons; a granddaughter, a great-granddaughter; and two great-grandsons.
A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church, Del. 24, near Oak Orchard on Wednesday at 11 a.m.
Friends may call at Melson Funeral Services, Long Neck Chapel, Long Neck Road, Millsboro, from 9 to 10 a.m., prior to Mass.
Burial will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery South, Millsboro.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church, 202 Edwards St., Georgetown, DE 19947.
