Charlotte Ann Henning

HARRINGTON - Charlotte Ann Henning passed away Friday, June 29, 2012 in her home after her health started failing as of March 2007. She was the daughter of the late James A. Simpler and Nettie Teat Simpler. Charlotte was born in Newtown Square, Pa. She was raised in Queen Annes County and Caroline Counties in Maryland. She graduated from Greensboro Maryland High School, Class of 1957 with honors, receiving the good citizenship award by the Daughters of the American Revolution. Charlotte worked at Rehoboth Beach during the summer of 1957 then was employed by Playtex from 1957-60 as a secretary. She left in 1960 for maternity leave and later worked part time as a Sarah Coventry salesperson. In 1964 she was the second person to be hired by General Foods in Dover as a personal receptionist. When moving to the new plant, she was a personal secretary. In 1967 she moved to East Setauket L.I. New York, working at Carci-Computab, Inc. as a receptionist. In 1969, she returned to Delaware and was the Administrative Assistant at Milford Manor for several years. She then worked at Milford Senior Center as an Out Reach worker. Her last job was part-time at UPS. Charlotte also took great pride being a homemaker. She was a member of Harrington Women of the Moose, Chapter 1229. She previously held the Hospital Chairperson and Chaplain office. She also enjoyed serving as the Sunshine Chairman for two years. She was a floral designer and making many arrangements for friends. She also was known for unique hand writing. Charlotte was preceded in death by her only child, Keith Breeding on May 8, 1982; her parents; and four brothers, Justin, Dudley, Clifton and Joe Simpler; a sister-in-law, T.J. Simpler and Betty Simpler. She is survived by her very devoted husband, Jimmy Henning; several nieces, nephews, special friends and a special sister-in-law, Ginny Simpler. Charlotte requested no services and interment to be private at Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica. Arrangements are by Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Seasons Hospice, 556 S.
