Charles William "Bill" Grabey, 83
MILLSBORO - Charles William "Bill" Grabey of Millsboro, formerly of Schuylkill Haven, Pa., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 6, 2007, in his home. He was 83.
Mr. Grabey was born in Pottsville, Pa., son of the late Charles H. and Sarah (Huber) Grabey.
He was a graduate of Pine Grove High School class of "42 and served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Europe during World War II.
Mr. Grabey was employed as an armament technician for the 103rd Combined Support and Maintenance Shop, Fort Indiantown Gap, Annville, Pa. He was a member of the 103rd and 337th PA National Guard, retiring in 1973.
He was a life member of Pine Grove American Legion in Pine Grove, Pa., and the Rainbow Hose Co. in Schuylkill Haven.
Mr. Grabey was also a member of Long Neck United Methodist Church, Jefferson Lodge F & A.M. in Lewes, AARP Chapter of Long Neck, Indian River Senior Center, American Legion Post 28 and an honorary member of the Lewes Radio Control Airplane Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Brown Grabey, in May 2006.
He is survived by his daughter, Phyllis Koch and her husband, Allen of Hamburg, Pa.; and a granddaughter, Tanya Hawkins and her husband, Sean of Beahle Air Force Base in California.
A Masonic service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, followed by the funeral service at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, Long Neck Road, Millsboro, where friends and family may call after 10 a.m.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Monday at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, Pa.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Charles W. "Bill" Grabey"s name to the Long Neck United Methodist Church, 32051 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, DE 19966.
