Charles W. Vickers, 79

MILLSBORO - Charles W. Vickers of Millsboro died Friday, April 13, 2007, in Millsboro. He was 79.

Mr. Vickers was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Millsboro, for 53 years. He was also a member of the Millsboro Volunteer Fire Co. for more than 50 years.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and a past member of the Lions Club. During his families child hood he actively supported the school band boosters and Boy Scouts.

Mr. Vickers was a master carpenter and 50-year member of local 626, who worked on many local residences, schools, hospitals, businesses and churches in the area.

He was an avid reader and enjoyed writing verses for family and friends.

Mr. Vickers adored his darling dog friend, Snickers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Della Quillen Vickers; his wife, Bertha Mae Vickers in 1994; and a brother, Vaughn Vickers.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Ray A. Bunting of Daytona, Fla., Gerald Lee and Christy Bunting of Virginia Beach, Va., Charles Ronald and Nancy Vickers of Dover; Susan Bunting of Selbyville; five grandchildren, Lori Hudson and her husband, Keith, Tara Arnold and her husband, George, Michael W. Bunting, Jessica L. Bunting and Will S. Vickers; four great-grandchildren, Bryn Hudson, Quinn Hudson, Lauren Arnold and Ashlynn Arnold.

Services will be noon Friday in Grace United Methodist Church, Millsboro, where friends may call one hour earlier. The Revs. Leroy Jones and Rob Townsend will officiate.

Burial will be in Millsboro Cemetery.

Instead of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Millsboro Public Library P.O. Box 458, Millsboro, DE 19966; or the Millsboro Fire Co., P.O. Box 83, Millsboro, DE 19966.
