Charles M. "Chuck" Snyder, 76
DOVER - Charles M. "Chuck" Snyder of Dover died Tuesday, March 20, 2007, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital. He was 76.
Mr. Snyder was born June 9, 1930 in Mason City, Illinois to the late Charles D. and Katherine Snyder.
Mr. Snyder was retired from the United States Air Force after 21 years of service, after serving his country, he then went to work for the state of Delaware retiring in 1990 after 20 years as a constable and bailiff for Justice of the Peace courts 7 and 16.
He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Milford, holding office as the commander for two years. He was commander of the American Legion Walter L. Fox Post 2 in Dover and department commander of the state of Delaware American Legion. He was Bingo Chairman at Walter L. Fox Post for many years and loved it and all the people too. Mr. Snyder was a charter member of the Elks Lodge in Milford, as well as a member of the Camden/Wyoming Moose Lodge Chapter 153. He was a member of Masonic Lodge Union 7 AF and AM in Dover. Mr. Snyder participated with the Delaware State Police Trooper Youth Week for many years. He was a wonderful husband, father and pop pop. He will be sadly missed.
He was preceded in death by his son Steven Snyder in 2002.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Wells Snyder; his son, Richard Snyder and his wife, Emily of Camden; his daughters, Carol Williams and her husband, Tim of Dover and Kathy Larkin and her companion, Ty Ulrick of New York; seven grandchildren, Michael, Brian, Michelle, Robert, Nicole, Rachel, Amanda; seven great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Jameir, Jaelyn, Justin, Michael, Jacob, Tori, Steven and Diane; daughter in law Becky Snyder of Dover; and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services were Monday in Torbert Funeral Chapel South, Dover.
Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association, Kent County Division, 1151 Walker Road, Suite 202, Dover, DE 19904.
