Charles J. "Chuck" Peters, 68

MIDDLETOWN - Charles J. "Chuck" Peters of Middletown passed away peacefully Saturday, April 14, 2007, in his home, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with leukemia. He was 68.

Chuck was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and moved to Wilmington at an early age. He worked for the duPont Co., Petrochemicals Division, and later as an international sales manager for the Caribbean region until his retirement in 1988. An entrepreneur at heart, he fulfilled a lifelong dream to own and operate his own business, TLC Yogurt Co., which he grew to three locations and a distribution center in downtown Wilmington. Since 2001, Chuck worked as a consultant for BDP International in Philadelphia where he enjoyed his work and treasured the camaraderie of his close friends.

Chuck lived life to the fullest and liked nothing more than a round of golf and enjoying the company of his family and friends.

He was predeceased by his oldest son, Charles J. Peters III, in 1987.

Chuck is survived by his wife of 49 years, Estelle, and their three children, Gary Peters and his wife Cathy, Eric Peters and his wife Francie, and Kristine Shannon and her husband Jeff, all of Middletown. He is also survived by four grandchildren, who gave him his greatest joy, Natalie, Kyle, Samantha and Cameron; a brother, Robert Peters and his wife Juanita of Virginia; a sister-in-law, Teresa Jarvis and her husband Ed and their son Brian of Magnolia; and a cousin, Brenda Hagelstein and her husband Walter of Middletown. He will be missed by many friends and family members.

The Peters family wishes to thank the many doctors, nurses and staff of 6B in Christiana Hospital for their friendship and compassionate care.

Friends may call Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. in Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel at Gracelawn Memorial Cemetery, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle. Entombment will be in the adjoining cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Chuck Peters to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Delaware, 100 W. 10th St., Suite 209, Wilmington, DE 19801; or to the Ryan Christopher Bolte Foundation, 129 Pheasant Field Lane, Moorestown, NJ 08057.
