DOVER - Charles J. Kolodjeski entered into loving peace surrounded by his loving family, Saturday, March 28, 2015. Charles was born in Jersey City, N.J. to the late Charles J. Wheeler and Gertrude (Cross) Wheeler Madsen. A graduate of Wm. L. Dickinson High School, Jersey City and Ocean County College, Toms River in 1977 with an Associate degree in Applied Science Business Accounting. He joined the United States Army in 1949, serving 2 tours of duty in Korea with the 60th Signal Service Company from 1951-1953 and served with the 52nd Signal Bn. Can Tho Mekonf Delta, Vietnam from 1968-1969. MSGT. Kolodjeski received numerous awards and served our Country proudly for 21 years, retiring in 1971. Upon retiring his went to work for AccuRay Industrial Nucleonics Corp, Columbus, Ohio, retiring in 1986, then started his own business Sensor Services, Inc., until he sold out to his business partner in 1994. He was a member of the American Legion Walter L. Fox, Post #2, Dover, Vietnam Veterans Chapter 850, Dover, BPOE Elks Lodge #1903, Dover and a life member of VFW Post 3238, Camden. Charles enjoyed early in his life, fishing, boating, bowling and camping with his family. After his retirement he enjoyed going to the casinos and playing Black Jack, vacationing in the Outer Banks and most of all his 5 trips to Poland. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Elaine Hennessy, 1987 and brother, Robert Wheeler, 1990. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Kay Kolodjeski of Dover; daughters, Diane Emmets of SeaGirt, NJ, and Nancy Kolodjeski of Blackwood, NJ; son, Wayne Kolodjeski and his wife Deborah of Dover; sister, Frances Harvey and her husband Henry of Hartly; grandsons, Andrew and Corey Emmets, Keith and Steven Kolodjeski; niece and Goddaughter, Kimberly Gillen and her husband Michael; nephew, Brian Harveyand his fiancé Kristin Cosden. Funeral services will be held 9 a.m., Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday evening with a Elks Service at 7 p.m. Interment will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to VVA Chapter 850, War Dog Memorial, PO Box 1718, Dover, DE 19901 or Delaware Hospice, 911 S. Dupont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
