Howard Hawkins CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Charles "Buddy" Howard Hawkins of Chestertown, Md. passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2014 in Chestertown, Md. Mr. Hawkins was born July 4, 1953 in Chestertown, Md., son of Charles T. Hawkins and the late Doris Mae "Horney" Hawkins. Buddy was a 1970 graduate of Chestertown High School. Throughout his life he was a farmer, carpenter, construction worker, painter, printer press operator, security officer and maintenance custodian. His most loved occupation was serving as Sexton at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Easton, Md. Buddy was very charismatic, never meeting a stranger and loved by everyone who knew him. Unfortunately, he struggled every day of his life making difficult choices. He enjoyed reading, hunting and doing word searches and crossword puzzles. He was a member of the F.F.A., 4-H club and National Honor Society. He was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Mae Hawkins; his grandparents, Howard and Mildred Rice, and Charles and Marie Hawkins; as well as his former wife, Corinda Kaye Coleman. He is survived by his father, Charles T. Hawkins of Federalsburg, Md.; daughter, Tami Kaye Raimond, of Rock Hall, Md.; son, Charlie P. Hawkins of Rock Hall, Md.; grandchildren, Victor Shane Raimond, Kaylee Jo Raimond, and Catherine Nicole Hawkins all of Rock Hall, Md.; sisters, Carolyn Stoebner and her husband Lloyd of Camden, Del., and Patricia Lee Grussing and her husband George of Rock Hall, Md.; as well as many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be 7 p.m., Friday, July 11, 2014 at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., 130 Speer Road - Chestertown, Md. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent to the Samaritan Group, P.O. Box 934 - Chestertown, MD 21620 or the Trinity Episcopal Cathedral - 315 Goldsborough St. Easton, MD 21601.
