Charles Franklin Truitt Sr., 86 DOVER - Charles Franklin Truitt Sr. died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital with his son Daniel and daughter-in-law Lou Ann by his side. He was 86. Mr. Truitt was born Aug. 16, 1922, in Sandtown to the late William and Lillian Truitt. He was in the Delaware National Guard from 1938 till 1940 when he joined the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Italy. Mr. Truitt retired civil service from Dover Air Force Base as a Cargo Checker. He had driven trucks for several businesses in the area. He also had worked for the Highway Department. Mr. Truitt enjoyed rabbit hunting, watching the Phillies and NASCAR especially Dale Earnhardt, Sr. He lived with his son and daughter in law, Daniel and Lou Ann for the last 8 years and loved all of the family cats. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his 15 siblings; and his two wives, Anna Mae Truitt in 1989 and Jane Burton Truitt in 2000. He is survived by his two sons, Charles F. Truitt Jr., Daniel Truitt and his wife Lou Ann, all of Magnolia; two grandchildren, Kathy Baughman and Michele Campbell; and two great-grandchildren, Bradley Baughman and Heather Campbell. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Rt. 10, Sandtown. Arrangements by Torbert Funeral Chapel, Dover. Letters of condolences may be sent, and guestbook signed at
