Charles Everrett Shockley went home to be with his Lord and Savior after a tragic accident on Dec. 6, 2018.
Charles was born on June 21, 2002 to his beloved mother Charlene Sandifer and father Bruce Shockley at Kent General in Dover. At the time of his death, he was a 10th grade student at Milford High School and had just received his license.
Swimming was his passion and he swam for various teams including both the Milford and Georgetown Boys & Girls Clubs, where he also volunteered for Kids Fest and other community events. Charles was an active participant at Avenue United Methodist Church as a member of the Fusion Student Ministries and Boy Scout Troop 186, having come through the ranks of Cub Scouts beginning as a Tiger Scout. For ten years, he was a Pumpkin Chunker for Team Never Forget. An avid skateboarder, Charles had also played soccer, football and little league baseball.
In addition to his parents; Charles is survived by his grandmothers, Nancy Sandifer and Patty Sandifer; sister, Kaitlyn Marciano; his Godfather, "Uncle Rabbit"; his cousins, Gabbie and Mikey; and many other cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. He also leaves behind his four dogs: Hunter, Hawk, Chloe and Ooff.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather and namesake Charles Sandifer; and his paternal grandparents, Harold and Mabel Shockley.
A memorial service will be held at Avenue United Methodist Church, 20 North Church Street, Milford, on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018 at 11 a.m. The family will be receiving visitors beginning at 10 a.m.
In honor of Charles' love of dogs and in lieu of flowers, gifts of dog food and other supplies can be made in his name to the SPCA of Georgetown, 22918 DuPont Blvd., Georgetown, DE 19947.
