MILTON - Charles E. Moore, Sr., of Milton, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Monday, August 22, 2016. Charlie was born on December 28, 1938, the son of the late Edwin "Cap" Moore and Elizabeth "Lib" Smith. He served his community as a police officer with the City of Rehoboth Beach Police Dept., June 1964-August 1984. Charlie retired in 2010 from the Cape Henlopen School District as a School Bus Contractor. He was a member of the Milford Elks Club, in his earlier years, he loved to play softball, bowled on bowling leagues, and enjoyed golfing before his illness. He also managed the Braves Little League team for approximately seven years. He is survived by his loving wife for over 34 wonderful years, Donna F. Moore; his faithful Shih Tzu, Buckwheat; his loving daughter, Teet Sharp (Charles Jones) of Milford; and his loving sons, Danny (Judy) and Richard (Denise) Moore of Milton; five grandchildren, Billy (Kelly) Turner, Chaz Moore, Madison Moore, Chris (Ashley) and R.J. Moore; five great-grandchildren, Cody, Jaxson, Zoey and Bryce Turner, and Kaitlyn Moore; father and mother-in-law, Everett and Betty Rust; sister-in-law, Bonnie Cahall (Curtis Davidson); brother-in-law, Mark (Tammy) Rust; sister-in-law, Ernie Moore; nieces, nephews, and many devoted friends and family members. Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his brother, Herschel Moore; granddaughter, Megan Moore; son, Charles 'Chuck' Moore, Jr., and daughter-in-law, Ruth Moore. Charlie was an all-around loving man and will be greatly missed by many. A funeral service will be 1 p.m., Monday, August 29, 2016, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, DE 19968 where friends may call after 12 p.m. A visitation will also be held 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday, August 28, 2016, at Short Funeral Services, Milton. Interment will be at Henlopen Memorial Park, Milton. In lieu of flowers donations in Charlie's memory can be made to: Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
