Charles D. Zehring, 81

DOVER - Charles D. Zehring of Dover, died Sunday May 6, 2007 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 81.

Mr. Zehring was born Dec. 12, 1925 in Lebanon, Pa., the son of the late William H. and Ella Barr Zehring.

He was in the Marine Corps during World War II.

He worked as a maintenance supervisor for the state of Delaware for 25 years before retirement.

Mr. Zehring's hobbies included hunting, fishing and horse racing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Zehring; two sisters, Alice Good and Anita Krout and his loving dog, Doby.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret O'Neal Zehring; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Daniel and Karin Cox of Germany, Dennis and Bobbie Cox of Harrington and Charles Zehring Jr. of Lebanon; two daughters and a son-in-law, Diane and Jesse Willey of Dover and Bonnie Zehring of Lebanon; three brothers, Ed Zehring and his wife, Edie of Lebanon, Mark Zehring of Lebanon and Martin Zehring of Jupiter, Fla.; two sisters, Josephine Heilman and her husband, Robert and Mary Ann Gettle, all of Lebanon; eight grandchildren, Brian Cox, Nicole Cox, Ashleigh Cox, Jack Cox, Jaime Willey, Kristopher Willey, Amy Doughty and Amanda Rinaldi; and 11 great-grandchildren, Kyle, Alexis, Destiny, David, Noah, Jordan, Michael, Alexis, Zachary, Abby and Jacob.

Services and burial will be private.

Instead of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to a charity of choice.

Arrangements by Faries Funeral Directors and Crematorium Inc., 29 S. Main St., Smyrna.
