Lewatha Gore, 67 DOVER - MSGT (Ret) Cephus Lewatha Gore was surrounded by his family as he departed to be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ after an intense battle with cancer on Friday, Jul. 15, 2016. Cephus was born in Horry [pronounced O – Re} County, South Carolina. His parents relocated from South Carolina to Trenton, New Jersey. They lived in Eggerts Crossing, where Cephus attended Trenton Public Schools and graduated from Trenton High School in 1967. Cephus completed training at Lincoln Technical Institute as an automotive technician and entered into the United States Air Force. In 1969 he joined the Air Force then after 22 and a half years of military service he retired in 1992. Cephus was married to his beautiful wife Priscilla in September of 1971 and together they had three children. He began another career with DelDOT Central District as an Equipment Mechanic in the Truck Shop and retired after 19 and a half years of service in 2014. Cephus really enjoyed life. He loved people and never failed to strike up a conversation with anyone and more so if they were a veteran. Cephus was a certified Master Gardener. He enjoyed his yard, garden and never failed to have something in bloom all year around. Cephus loved learning and teaching what he learned to his Grandchildren. He was an avid reader and history buff. He enjoyed taking photos, going to car shows, the theater, museums, and the Delaware Archives. Cephus was a committed member of Calvary Church. He served behind the scenes at church and anonymously supported various charitable organizations. He was preceded in death by his Father, Cephus Vandell Gore, 1987; his mother, Mary Luceille Gore, 2001, his Father-in-law, Allen Jones Sr., 2016, his Mother-in-law, Ruby Lee Jones, 2007; and his Brother-in-law, Allen Jones, Jr, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Priscilla Gore; his son, Christopher and his wife Kathryn of Townsend; his son, Marcel and his wife Casey of Camden; his daughter, Lakesha and her companion Johnathan Brodie of Dover, and five grandchildren, Bryttani Gore & Olivia Gore of Camden; Kristopher Scott, Andrew Smith, & Kierstyn Smith of Townsend; his three brothers, Patrick Gore and his companion Joyce Washington of Hamilton, New Jersey, Sylvester Gore and his wife Sharon of Ewing, N.J., Tommie Gore and his companion Lauren Stewart of Trenton, N.J.; his niece, Jada Gore of East Orange, N.J., and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews From New Jersey, Maryland & South Carolina. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 11 Am at Calvary Church, 1141 East Lebanon Road, Dover, DE 19901. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be in Millsboro Veterans Cemetery on Monday, July 25, 2016. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Chapter 850 Vietnam Veterans of America; PO Box 1718; Doverm Delaware 19903 and the John H.
