Cecil Leon Lake
Cecil Leon Lake's life began on March 28, 1972. He was affectionately known to his family as 'Stink.' He was the son of Deborah Bagwell and Cecil Shockley. He transitioned from this life on January 22, 2022 after suffering an aortic dissection.
Cecil attended Lake Forest High school where he was known to be the class clown. His laugh was infectious and he had a way of making everyone around him chuckle as well.
Cecil was an accomplished Auto Salesman for the past 19 years, most recently employed with CF Schwartz Toyota in Dover, Del. He also spent about 12 years at Dover Volkswagen. Some would say that he had the 'gift of gab' and could 'sell ice to an Eskimo.'
In 1998, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, under the tutelage of Bishop Joseph P. Cooper, Pastor of Emmanuel Pentecostal Church of God. Cecil would later name his first born child, Phillip, after the late Bishop Cooper. While attending Emmanuel, he met his wife, Antoinette, whom he loved dearly. They also wed in August, 1999. From this union was born Phillip Leon and Heavyn Leigh. Cecil adored his children and was a proud father. Cecil enjoyed worshiping the Lord and had been attending the Pentecostals of Dover, Del. (PODD) for the last three years.
Cecil was an avid sports fanatic and enjoyed watching sports year round. From golf to football, to tennis and basketball. Whenever there was a sporting event that he could watch, there he was, posted in front of the television. You could even find him watching WWE on most Monday nights. Most of all, he was a tried and true fan of the Dallas Cowboys, even though they had not won the Super Bowl since 1996. He always had high hopes when football season began, that this would be 'the year.' During the summer months you could also find him on the tennis courts and walking his fur baby at Brecknock County Park.
Cecil was preceded in death by two grandmothers, Dorothy Lake and Argatha Riddick; two aunts, Joyce Lake and Janice Warren; two uncles, Alvin Lake and James Lake; and his special cousin, Willis Warren.
Cecil leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 22 years, Antoinette; his children, Phillip and Heavyn; his 'bonus son', Perrell Whaley; his fur baby, Rose (aka little Turd); his mother, Deborah Bagwell of Milsboro, Del.; his father, Cecil Shockley, of Slaughter Neck, Del.; three sisters, Leslie Middleton (Michael Middleton), of Owings Mills, Md., Monet Bruce, of Newark, Del. and Shante Lake, of Bridgeville, Del.; two sisters-in-law, Ivy Freeman, of Dover, Del. and Denise Thomas of New York; one brother-in-law, Jimmy Harris, of Germany; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, February 5, 2022, in the Emanual Pentecostal Church of God, 145 Center St., Camden, Del.; where family and friends may gather from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m.
