SEAFORD - Cecil B. Tull, passed away peacefully at his home in River's End on Tuesday, June 12, 2012. The son of Golda G. and Robert C. Tull, he was born on the family farm west of Seaford on October 9, 1920. Following graduation from Seaford High School in 1938, he received a Bachelor of Science degree with honors in Chemical Engineering from the University of Virginia and subsequently pursued graduate studies at the University of Delaware. Mr. Tull was a Naval veteran of WWII and served with the Seabees in South East Asia and the Pacific theater. Following his return to civilian life, he joined the family business, Sussex Farms and Tull Brothers Inc. and was instrumental in their establishment of an International Harvester/Case dealership for agriculture equipment. He served as Chief Executive Officer and Vice President as the family of businesses expanded into hardware, house wares, gift and garden retail operations. Under his leadership, the equipment dealership was recognized numorous times for outstanding sales and service to the agriculture community by International Harvester, Case, MTD, Cub Cadet and the North American Equipment Dealer Association of which he was a member. Mr. Tull served on the Seaford School Board and was a life time member of the VFW, American Legion, Moose, and Elks Lodge, the University of Virginia Alumni Association and the Alpha Chi Sigma Fraternity. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Elizabeth (Abbey) Tull; son, Benjamin Tull of Seaford; daughter, Rebecca Deaton of Salisbury, Md.; four grandchildren, Brian Tull and Lauren Whaley of Seaford, Tyler Deaton of Washington D.C., Alexa Deaton of New York, N.Y.; and two great-grandchildren, Avery Tull and Carter Whaley of Seaford. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert J. Tull. Funeral services will be held at noon, Saturday, June 16, 2012, in Watson-Yates Funeral Home Front & King Streets Seaford, Delaware where friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon prior to the services. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery Seaford. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made in memory of Mr. Tull to Delaware Hospice 100 Patriots Way Milford, De. 19963.
