GEORGETOWN - Catherine was born to Mary M. and Anthony B. Poula on Oct. 23, 1918 in Mitchellville, Md. She passed away May 24, 2013 at Harrison Senior Living Center in Georgetown, Del. Catherine had four passions in her life; her husband and family, her children's and student's education, the family farm (Ample Grange), and her faith. She was a devoted Maryland elementary school teacher and principal for twenty-four years. She often acknowledged her friends and family that helped her when her husband passed away and her health began to fail. She enjoyed writing thank-you notes until she couldn't do it anymore. The family thanks her friends and aides who helped and encouraged her in her final years and the Best-Year's group at Mt. Oak Methodist church that provided both Catherine and Thomas heart-felt friendship in their retirement years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas N. Terry, Jr.; and great granddaughter, Kylie Nicole Penuel. She is survived by her daughter, Paula Penuel (Bruce); her two sons, Thomas (Priscilla) and Michael Terry (Christine); four grandchildren, Thomas Penuel, Mark Penuel, Lt. Matthew Terry, Kimberley T. Hurd; and three great-grandchildren, Brandt Penuel, Hailey Penuel, Tyler Hurd. A visitation will be held Wed. evening, May 29, 2013 from 6 to 8p.m. in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market Street, Georgetown. Burial will be Thurs., May 30, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Oak Church Cemetery, Mitchellville, MD 2072. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donating to the Patuxent River Riverkeeper Center. The sole purpose of the Patuxent Riverkeeper is to protect, restore, and advocate for clean water in the Patuxent River and its connected ecosystem. Patuxent Riverkeeper Center, 17412 Nottingham Road, Upper Marlboro, MD 20721.
