Catherine C. Hurley, 76

SEAFORD - Catherine C. Hurley, died on Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. She was 76. Mrs. Hurley was born in Lansdowne, Pa., the daughter of the late Alfred and Thelma Carey. She graduated from Lansdowne High School and attended Fairfax Hill Business School in Fairfax, Va. Cathy was an active member of the Seaford Acorn Club for 40 years, and was chairman of many committees including the Acorn Telephone Book. She was an active member of the Nanticoke River Yacht Club. Cathy's husband, Benjamin J. "Bennie" Hurley died in 2007. She is survived by three daughters, Linda Powell and her husband Robert, of Millville, Sharon Hoffecker and her husband Robert, of Smyrna, and Barbara Brown and her husband Dale, of Rehoboth Beach; and her two grandchildren, Kyle Miller and Alexis Brown. Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008 at the Cranston Funeral Home, 300 Shipley St., Seaford, where friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Georgetown. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to the Acorn Club of Seaford, P.O. Box 402, Seaford, DE 19973.
