MILFORD - Carrie B. Johnson of Milford, formerly of Harrington, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. She was 95.
She was born Feb. 4, 1912, in Slaughter Neck, daughter of the late F. Layton and Sallie (Stevenson) Bennett.
Carrie graduated from Milford High School in 1930 and from Goldey College in 1932.
Carrie worked as a bookkeeper at Peoples Bank in Harrington for many years.
She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Harrington, the Women's Society of Christian Service and a life member of the Harrington New Century Club.
Carrie also enjoyed playing bridge and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace C. Johnson, in 1985; and a brother, Norman R. Bennett.
She is survived by two sons, H. Terry Johnson and his wife Becky of Millsboro and Theodore L. Johnson and his wife Gerry Sue of Milford; two granddaughters, Sallie Beth Johnson of Pinehurst, N.C., and Christy Gers and her husband Fred of Chincoteague, Va.; two great-grandsons, Jayson L. Stubbs and Fred L. Gers V (born Dec. 31, 2007) of Chincoteague, Va.; two sisters, Sara Mae Webb of Milford and Charlotte Ann Wyatt of Harrington; one brother, J. Fenwick Bennett of Milford; a sister-in-law, Gladys Bennett of Milford; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the McKnatt, Carpenter & Baker Funeral Home, 50 Commerce St., Harrington, where friends may call one hour prior.
Burial will be private in Slaughter Neck Cemetery, Argo's Corner, Milford.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions in her memory to Asbury United Methodist Church, 200 Weiner Ave., Harrington, DE 19952.
