Carolyn M. Rescorl

DOVER - Carolyn M. Rescorl died on Sat., May 23, 2015 at Kent General Hospital after a sudden illness. Mrs. Rescorl was born on Aug. 20, 1926 in Hudson, NY, the daughter of the late Charles and Sara McKelvey. After living in various States and Overseas with her Air Force husband, she settled in Delaware and lived in Smyrna for 15 years and in Dover for 28 years. She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Crestwood, NY. She graduated from Delaware Technical and Community College as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was a homemaker, and through the years volunteered as a Red Cross Gray Lady, taught Lau Bach reading for the Air Force Family Services, and delivered Meals on Wheels for the Modern Maturity Center. She was preceded in death by her husband Chief Warrant Officer John Rescorl in 1972, sons David Alan in 1999 and John Deane in 2002. She is survived by sons Peter John and wife Lisa of Philadelphia, PA, and Paul Brian and wife Cindy of Neptune, NJ, a daughter, Carol Anne Baber and husband James of Dover, DE, a brother, Theodore D. McKelvey of Simsbury, CT, eight grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. A private family viewing will be held at Torbert Funeral Chapel, Bradford and Reed Streets, Dover, DE. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery. Letters of condolences may be sent and guest book signed at www.torbertfuneral.com
