Carolyn H. Hill

Carolyn H. Hill, 89 SMYRNA - Carolyn H. Hill, of Smyrna, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, in the Atlantic General Hospital, Berlin, Md. She was 89. Born Oct. 24, 1918, in Denton, Md., she was the daughter of Earle Satterfield Horsey and Pauline Goslee Horsey. During her childhood, the family moved to Delmar, Md., where she was raised. She graduated from Hebron High School in 1934, and attended Salisbury University where she obtained her bachelor of science degree in 1938. Mrs. Hill was among the first to earn a four year degree from that university. After graduation, Mrs. Hill taught school in Middle River, Baltimore County, Md., until 1942. She then worked in the accounting department of General Motors Corporation, Baltimore, Md, division in 1945 and then moved to the GM Wilmington office where she worked from 1945 until her retirement in 1974. Mrs. Hill was a member of the GM Retirees Club. Mrs. Hill and her husband, Roland e. Hill, moved to Smyrna in 1977. During her retirement she was an active volunteer at the Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge in Bombay Hook. She enjoyed painting with oils and was an accomplished quilter. Mrs. Hill was predeceased by a sister, Emma H. Hardne, and in 2005, by her husband, Ronald E. Hill. She is survived by her sister, Madalene H. Requard of Baltimore, Md., numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews including, Carolyn Wheaton of Berlin, Md., Julie and Ryan Brown of Ocean City, Md., Richard and Karen Taylor of Baltimore, Md. and Robert and Joyce Taylor of Baltimore, Md.
