Carole A. Warnock

MILFORD - Carole A. Warnock passed away Friday, July 12, 2013 at home surrounded by her family and pups following a long illness. Mrs. Warnock was born in Johnstown, Pa., on Mar. 31, 1948 to the late Chuck and Mildred Baxandale. Carole moved to Milford when she was 8 and continued to reside there until her passing. She graduated from Milford High School in 1966 and married her high school sweetheart, David Warnock a week after graduation. She worked for several years at Dot's Hallmark in Milford before beginning her career with the Delaware State Police. She started this career in the SBI unit at Headquarters located in Dover then transferred to Bridgeville Troop 5 where she finished out her 32 year career as an administrative assistant. She was also unofficial troop mom to many new troopers who passed through Troop 5. She retired from the Delaware State Police in 2007 with many fond memories Carole enjoyed many activities such as volunteering as a Girl Scout troop leader and organizing the Needy Family Christmas program that was run through Troop 5. She also spent several years working in the K-9 breeding program for the Delaware State Police. Her experience in the program caused her to expand her involvement with dogs. Carole raised and showed Brussels Griffons and Giant Schnauzers. Carole and her family were also involved in the Foreign Student Exchange Program. Her family hosted several students from France. Carole and her family also loved to travel and go camping. They traveled to Ireland, Switzerland, and France. She could also be found at Prime Hook beach on the sand with her young family. Carole and her daughter loved to share time together in the kitchen trying out new recipes. Carole will be fondly remembered by all whom encountered her. She displayed a quick wit that you would never know if it would leave you laughing or blushing. Carole is survived by her husband of 47 years, David Warnock; her daughter, Dianne Varanko and her husband Matt of Milford; adopted French daughter, Nathalie Meunier of Milford; brother-in-law, Robert Warnock of Virginia; sister-in-law, Jeannie Warnock of Milford; a nephew, Travis Warnock and his wife Jennifer and daughter Juliana of Milford; nephew, Brian Warnock and his wife Michelle of Milford. She was preceded in death by her parents, Chuck and Mildred Baxandale; and a brother, Larry Baxandale. Carole will always be remembered as a loving wife, a fantastic mother who always had a smile and time to help anyone in need. A funeral service will be held at Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford, DE at 1 p.m. on Wednesday July 17, 2013, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Interment will be in Milford Community Cemetery.
