MAGNOLIA - Carol L. Brown of Magnolia gave in to Alzheimer's on Wednesday, May 2, 2007, in her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was 85.

She was born March 9, 1922, in Humboldt, Iowa, daughter of the late Walter Scott and Mae Gladys (Kinkade) Cody.

Carol worked during World War II in Washington for the government. She then moved to Denver, where she continued her career with the federal government for 35 years. After retirement, she moved to Delaware and traveled.

She was a warm and loving mother, grandmother and friend to all. She will truly be missed and always carried in the hearts of those who loved her.

Carol made many great memories and lasting friends in Delaware. She enjoyed reading. She was a member of the Daughter's of the American Revolution and the Christian Women's Club.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Geoffery Stover; a brother, Robert Frederick Cody; a sister, Beulah Blythe Cody Terwilliger; and a brother-in-law, Leonard Terwilliger.

Carol is survived by two children, Carol Cody Thatcher and her husband John of Marion, Iowa, Michele R. Keedy of Dover; her grandchildren, Plechette Rasmussen, Scott Patterson and Jason Patterson, all of Dover; her great-grandchildren, Sasha Rasmussen, Jazmyn Rasmussen and Izabell Brown-Gregory; and two brothers, Merland Glenn Cody and his wife Floy of Humboldt, and Eugene Richard Cody and his wife Virginia, also of Humboldt.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.

Graveside services will follow at 11:30 a.m. in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the funeral home to help with expenses.
