Marvel, 71 DOVER - Carol Ann Surguy Marvel of Dover passed away Monday, November 2, 2015 at Kent General Hospital. She was 71. Mrs. Marvel was born January 11, 1944 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Charles M. Surguy and Katherine Burke Surguy. She worked as a register nurse for the State of Delaware Prisons, Smyrna and Georgetown for more than 20 years, retiring in 2005. Mrs. Marvel enjoyed surf fishing, cooking, flower and vegetable gardening. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Woodrow "Woody" Marvel, Jr. 2007. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Woodrow "Julian" Marvel, Sr. of Dover; son, John Marvel of Dover; daughters, Amber Ames and her husband Kevin of Magnolia, Michelle Sartin and her husband Carl of Clayton; brothers, Shawn Surguy of Pa., Rob Surguy of Dover, Danny Surguy and his wife Helen of Cumming, Ga.; sisters, Bonnie Valeski of Smyrna, Beverly Moore and her husband Danny of Dover, Stacey Wooters and her husband Rick; grandchildren, Jennifer Marvel, Katie Blanchard, Kyle Ames, Joseph and Sarah Arsenault, Allyssa, Shayna, Felicity Marvel. A Mass of Christine Burial will be 10 a.m., Monday, November 9, 2015 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State Street, Dover. Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday evening at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Interment will be in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Dover.
