DOVER - Carmine Pisapia Sr. of Dover died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006, in the Delaware Home and Hospital for the Chronically Ill, Smyrna. He was 91.
Mr. Pisapia was born in Belleville, N.J., son of the late John and Victoria (Via) Pisapia.
He moved to Dover in 1949 and owned the Capitol Barber Shop for more than 40 years.
Mr. Pisapia was a charter member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 1903, Dover, where he held several positions throughout the years. He served several times as exalted ruler of Lodge 1903 and was past president of the Delaware State Lodge. He served as an officer in the Grand Lodge and was past district deputy. He was appointed to the Kent County Board of Assessors in 1979 and faithfully served for eight years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine, in 1994.
He is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law, John and Barbara Pisapia of Boca Raton, Fla., Ralph and Linda Pisapia of Meredith, N.H., Carmine Jr. and Patricia Pisapia of Virginia Beach, Va. and Victor Pisapia of Sydney, Australia; two daughters and two sons-in-law, JoAnn Welsh and Bruce Harpster of Venice, Fla., and Therese and Edward Rike of Midlothian, Va.; a sister, Mary Caputo of Dover; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today in the Funeral Home of Michael J. Ambruso, 1175 S. State St., Dover.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in the funeral home.
Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover.
