Carmella Strassel

Carmella Strassel, 85 MILFORD - Carmella Strassel, age 85, of Milford, passed away on Feb. 10, 2010, at the Milford Center. She was a breast cancer survivor and later passed away after a courageous fight of Alzheimer's. She was born in Philadelphia, Pa. Carmella was a great mother, loving homemaker and a dear friend too the many who loved her. Fond memories include her love of cooking and baking, she also loved to knit scarf's for family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Strassel whom passed in 2000. Mrs. Strassel is survived by her loving daughter, Christina Strassel of Seaford. A Celebration of her life was held at the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home, 700 West Street, Laurel, on Thursday, Feb. 18. The Rev. Ken Deusa officiated. Interment will be held at a later date in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro. At her families request everyone she made a scarf for was asked to wear one for the service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Alzheimer's Association 109 N. Bedford Street Georgetown, DE 19977.
