Carlton Lycurgus Colvin Sr. 'Bud', 93
MILFORD - Carlton Colvin Sr. died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008, in the Milford Delaware Hospice Center. He was 93. He was born in Pensacola, Fla., on July 1, 1915. He lived in the house he built for his wife and family in 1951, until he moved to Delaware in January of 2007. He worked as the Head Custodian of Warrington Middle School when he retired in 1976. He also worked as a heavy equipment operator for 50 years. He served in the Three C's and the U. S. Army from 1934 to 1941. Pop Colvin played the guitar, mandolin, fiddle, and other stringed instruments. He tinkered with the piano and organ. His favorite music was country, bluegrass and southern gospel, and loved getting together with friends and family for picking and grinning. Carl Colvin would like to thank his many special friends, Ivy Caniford, Linda Tindle, Mary Fox and the staff of Evergreen II Alzheimer Center and the staff of Delaware Hospice and Country Rest Home in Greenwood. He is survived by a brother, Robert Colvin; sister, Augusta McCall; daughter, Carol Tully; son, Carlton L. Colvin Jr. and his wife Marie; grandchildren, James Colvin and his wife Martha, Michael Colvin, Carol Chaudoin, Andrea Schundelmier and her husband Richard, and Barney Tully; and ten great-grandchildren with many other family members. Extended grandchildren, William Kraft and his wife Donna with two children, Joseph Kraft and his wife Janice with three children, Joseph Davis and his wife Melissa with two children, John Dayton, and many other family members. A gathering of family and friends will be 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday with a Celebration of Life Service at 3 p.m. at the Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus St., Dover. Burial and funeral services will be held in Pensacola, at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 Lotus Plaza, Dover, DE 19901; and/or Alzheimer's Disease Delaware Chapter, 2306 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilmington, DE 19805.
