MILFORD - Retired U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Carl R. Buehner Jr. died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006, in his home with his wife by his side. He was 46.

Sgt. Buehner was born in Cleveland, son of the late Carl R. Sr. and Judy Buehner.

He worked in aircraft maintenance on jet engine fighters while he was in the military. Before retirement, after 20 years of service and obtaining the rank of staff sergeant, he worked in Command and Control.

In his spare time, he loved to go fresh water fishing, bowling, golfing and watch football. The Baltimore Ravens were his favorite football team. He also enjoyed cooking and loved to try different exotic foods and watch the food channel. Paula Dean was his favorite cooking personality and he enjoyed her program, "Down Home Southern Cooking." He also collected models of hot rods and classic cars. He owned a classic car himself, a Chevy II, and enjoyed going to car shows with his wife.

Sgt. Buehner was a former member of the Air Force Sergeant Association, the National Rifle Association and the American Legion.

He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Colleen Buehner; two brothers, David Buehner of Pearl Harbor and Edward Buehner of Boston; a sister, Donna of Avon, Ohio; and his loving pet companions, Beth and Boots.

Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. to noon Monday in Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Highway, Harrington.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday in the chapel of the Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Millsboro.

Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Millsboro.
