Calvanita "Bootsie" H. (Young) Matthews, 55

LINCOLN - Calvanita "Bootsie" H. (Young) Matthews of Lincoln died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007, in Hahnemann Hospital, Philadelphia. She was 55.

She was born in Chester, Pa.

Mrs. Matthews was a resident of Lincoln for 12 years and was formerly of Media, Pa., and Chester.

She graduated from Chester High School.

She was employed at Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital as a surgical technician for the past three years.

Prior to that, Mrs. Matthews was employed as a supervisor for Sunroc.

She was a member of Landmark Baptist Tabernacle, Lincoln, where she was a member of the Culinary Ministry.

Mrs. Matthews was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin Butler and Genevieve Young; and siblings, Sharleen Young and William Young.

She is survived by her husband, Bennie E. Matthews; three sons, Ronald Young of Frederica, Jerome Lee of Milford, and Kareem Lee of Dover; her stepchildren, Tanikwa White and her husband Jeff of Dover and Dominic Matthews of Virginia; two brothers, Mark Young of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mead Young of Chester; three sisters, Joann Coleman and her husband Elvin of Lincoln, and Diane Young and Monica Young, both of Chester; two grandchildren, Ronetra Anderson and Carson Anderson, both of Bear; a goddaughter, D"Naysia Queen of Claymont; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gerald Matthews and Ella Matthews, both of Philadelphia; three aunts; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Graveside services will be noon Saturday at Rolling Green Memorial Park, West Chester, Pa.

The family will assemble at the Earl L. Foster Funeral Home, 1100 Kerlin St., Chester.

Instead of flowers, donations will be sent to Artisans Bank, 100 Aerenson Drive, Milford, DE 19963.
