EASTON, Md. - Brent Kelly Spicer, of Easton, died on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009. He was 58. Born Jan. 14, 1951, in Dover, Del., he was the son of Arnold and Pauline Kelly Spicer of Easton. He attended Dover and Caesar Rodney Elementary Schools until moving to Cambridge, in 1963. He attended Cambridge High School until moving to Easton, where he graduated from Easton High School in 1969. He then began a career with Easton Utilities while also attending classes at Chesapeake College in Wye Mills. In 1971 he joined the U.S. Air Force where he served until 1975. He then returned to Easton Utilities and resumed classes at Chesapeake College graduating with an associates degree. He served as an employee of Easton Utilities for more than 38 years as a licensed surveyor. Brent was a past member of the Waterfowl Festival Board of Directors, Past President of the Easton Jaycees, a member and Past President of the JCI Senate, a member of the Annapolis Corvette Club, the Maryland Society of Surveyors, the Classic Car Club of Easton, B.P.O. Easton Elks Lodge #1622, Past Commander of the Maryland Militia, Past Commander of the Maryland Crab Corp, and a Tennessee Squire. In addition to his parents, Mr. Spicer is survived by his wife, the former Nancy C. Whitely, whom he married May 20, 1972; his sister, Jane Hack and her husband Todd of Hershey, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Easton. Friends may call at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., Easton, from 6-8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. An Elks service will be held at the funeral home on Monday evening at 7:45 p.m. Burial will be at the Belmont Cemetery, Choptank. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Talbot Hospice Foundation, 586 Cynwood Drive, Easton, MD 21601; or the Talbot County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1143, Easton, MD 21601.
