RISING SUN, Md. - Brenda Lee Tipton, 52, of Rising Sun, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011. Born on Sept. 14, 1959 in Dover, Del., she was the daughter of the late Anna Mae (Shahan) and Frank B. "Tadpole" Gruwell. Brenda was a bus aid for the Christina School District and loved her job very much and everyone she worked with. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Ann Gruwell. Brenda is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Vance L. Tipton, Sr. of Rising Sun; her three children, Vance L. Tipton, Jr. and his fiancé, Molly Higgins of Rising Sun, Carroll Joe Tipton and his wife, Rachel, of Chesapeake City and April Lynn Redick and her husband, David, of Camden, Del.; a sister, Virginia "Ginny" Garlic and her husband, Allen of Kenton; a brother, Melvin "Frankie" Gruwell of Middletown; six grandchildren who she loved more than anything, Jeffery, Tatum and Bailey Tipton all of Chesapeake City; Courtney, Samantha and Emily Tipton all of Rising Sun; a niece who was like a daughter to her, Nancy Neese and her husband, Chip of Camden, Del., and their two children, Chip Allen and Ethan Glenn Neese who Brenda thought of as her grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws and special friends who will miss her dearly. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20 at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, where friends may visit with her family on Wednesday evening from 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday, from 10-11 a.m. Interment will be in Old Drawyers Cemetery.
