HARRINGTON - Bonnie Sharron Ivins, 69, of Harrington, died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011, at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Ivins was the daughter of the late Willard and Dorothy (Allen) Chew. She began working in 1989 at Peoples Bank in Harrington. When the bank changed its name to Wilmington Trust Bank, Bonnie began working out of the Dover Office, where she stayed until she retired in 2004. She also worked as a teachers aide at the W. T. Chipman School in Harrington. She was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church, where she was involved in the Clothes Closet and in the Children's Church. She was a life member of the Harrington Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, where she helped cook meals and helped out at affairs and was a member of the Harrington Senior Center. She enjoyed doing word puzzles and collecting hankies. But what she looked forward to doing was spending time with and caring for her grandchildren, who were the love of her life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, William H. Chew. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, William W. Ivins; a son, William W. Ivins Jr. and his wife Connie L. Ivins; two daughters, Tresa Sharron Hutchison and her husband Travis, and Dawn L. Thomas and her fiancee' Michael Hutchison; grandchildren, Courtney Lynn Ivins, Kara Hutchison, Sierra Thomas, Jarin Winters, and Hayden Hutchison; and one sister, Donna L. Harrington and her husband Mike. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, at the McKnatt, Carpenter & Baker Funeral Home, 50 Commerce Street, Harrington, where friends may call from 12 to 1 p.m. Burial will be in Denton Cemetery, Denton, Md. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Prospect United Methodist Church, PO Box 342, Harrington, DE 19952.
