She enjoyed the outdoors very much, and was active in gardening and tending her flowers. She took an active interest in collecting and restoring antique furniture and enjoyed traveling in her later years. She will be warmly remembered for her devotion to her family, her love of music, her kindness, and her great sense of humor by all who knew her. Originally from Cheraw, S.C., she was the last surviving child of the 13 offspring of Gus and Maggie Hall. She was preceded in death by husband, Roy Briggs; and daughter, Norma "Tootsie" Jones. She is survived by a son, Homer Torbert Jr. and his wife Joy of Magnolia; eight grandchildren, Michael Quillen of Dover, Pat Quillen of Milford, Nowell "L.B." Jones of Seattle, Wash., Melanie Higgins of Fort Worth, Texas, Aaron Jones of Boston, Mass., Angela Clemente of New Jersey, Miles Torbert and Jason Torbert of Florida; and five great-grandchildren. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave. Wyoming, where friends may call from 10:30 until service time. Burial will be in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica. Flowers are appreciated, but for those who wish contributions can be sent to Compassionate Care Hospice, 623 W.
