LONG NECK - Blanche (Kersten) Cummings of Long Neck, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007, in Lewes Convalescent Center, Del. She was 84.
Mrs. Cummings was born April 11, 1922, in Stamford, Conn., daughter of the late Stanley J. and Josephine (Serafin) Kersten.
She was a 1940 graduate of Stamford High School.
She worked for Clark"s Hill Answering Service as a telephone operator until her retirement. She also worked for Yale and Towne Manufacturing Co. and Pickwick Ice Cream Co.
Mrs. Cummings was a volunteer at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. She was also a member of the USS Alabama Association, former president of the St. Mary"s Rosary Society, former vice president of the St. Mary"s Parish Council, member of the Catholic Daughters of America, member of the St. Jude"s Church, Lewes, past president of the Yankee Division and former vice president of the Catholic Council of Women.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Francis X. Cummings; three brothers, Henry J. Kersten, Stanley Kersten and Eugene Kersten; and a sister, Kathryn Alice Kersten.
She is survived by a son, Michael F. Cummings of Norwalk, Conn.; a daughter, Nancy L. Cummings of Long Neck; a sister, Louise Tucciarone of Pouhquag, N.Y.; a brother, Edward R. Kersten of Beacon Falls, Conn.; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A funeral procession will leave Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home and Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford, at 9:45 a.m. today and proceed to St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 566 Elm St., Stamford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m.
Burial will follow in St. John"s Cemetery, Camp Avenue, Darien.
