GREENWOOD - Beulah M. Layton of Greenwood died Friday, June 22, 2007, at the Milford Center. She was 100.
Mrs. Layton was born in Eglon, W.Va., daughter of the late Josiah and Vernie (Thompson) Hostedler.
She was a homemaker and also a seamstress for local sewing factories.
Mrs. Layton loved quilting and spent many hours quilting at the Milford Senior Center and Bethany Church of the Brethren in a group called Hands and Heart.
She was a member of both the Milford Senior Center and Bethany Church of the Brethren.
Besides her parents, Mrs. Layton was preceded in death by her husband, Carlton W. Layton; three brothers, Harold, David and Milton Hostedler; two sisters, Kathryn Wood and Violet Manning; and a great-grandson.
She is survived by five children and their spouses, Theodore L. and Beatrice Layton of Brownsville, Mildred I. and Bill Melvin of Magnolia, and Kenneth and Elda Layton, David and Elizabeth Layton, and Paul and Revonda Layton, all of Greenwood; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Gladys Derrickson of Millsboro.
Services will be 12:30 p.m. Monday at the Bethany Church of the Brethren, Farmington, where family and friends may call from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bethany Church of the Brethren, 133 School Road, Farmington, DE 19950.
