MILFORD - Beulah (Benson) Collick of Milford was born Nov. 20, 1927, in Milford Neck, one of 18 children born to the late Sallie and Emmanuel Benson. She departed this life on Thursday, May 31, 2007, at Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. She was 79.
She was educated in the Milford schools, and as an adult worked at the old Parker"s Cannery and also as a domesticated worker for several families in the area.
Beulah married Harrison "Bud" Collick Sr. on April 6, 1947, and became a full time wife and mother, dedicating herself to caring for her husband, nine children, many grandchildren and her dog, Butchy.
She especially loved to cook, and if asked what she cooked the best, she would usually say, "yeast rolls, sweet potato pies, biscuits and so much more."
Beulah was a warm and friendly person with a quiet spirit, and was affectionately called "Sis" by her family and all who knew her.
She accepted the Lord as her Savior at an early age, and was a former member of St. Paul AME Church, Harrington.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; two daughters, Connie and Betty; two sons, Harrison Jr. and Curtis; two sisters, Rachel and Dorothy; and nine brothers, Robert, Francis, Roland, Edmund, Randolph, Oscar, Harry, Charles and James.
She will be lovingly remembered by her five children, Star Seth of Lincoln, Kenneth Collick and his fiancée Alice Hardy of Felton, Gary and Charlene Collick of Montgomery, Ala., Norma Collick of Harrington and Troy Collick of Felton; 22 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; four brothers, Alex, Carla and Frances, and Burton Leroy, all of Harrington, and Delbert Eugene and Delores of Cambridge, Md.; two sisters, Catherine Stevens of Harrington and Louise and John Gray of Phoenix, Ariz.; four sisters-in-law, Beatrice Collick and Margie and Harold Conguest, all of Harrington, Esther Benson of Cambridge and Anna Mae Benson of Newark; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Services will be noon Friday in Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover, where friends may view two hours prior. Burial will be in Williamsville Cemetery.
