MILFORD - Betty Meredith Jory, of Milford, formerly of Greenwood, died Friday, July 24, 2009, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. She was 78. Betty was born on March 11, 1931, in Milford, the daughter of the late Nelson and Dorothy Melvin Meredith. Mrs. Jory was Director of Greenwood Cheer Center for 17 years, retiring in 1994. She immensely enjoyed working there and made many friends. She enjoyed cooking, camping, dining out with her friends and family, and family get togethers. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband, Robert W. Jory; two brothers, Louis and Wilson Meredith; and a sister, Grace Hipps. She is survived by four children, Eddie Jory and companion Dawn Johnson of Clayton, Sandra and husband Walt Johnson of Delmar, Del., Lisa and husband Kevin Conaway of Bridgeville, and Robin and husband Tommy Jones of Greenwood; three grandsons, Ron Morgan, Chad Jones and his fiancée Jen Larrimore and her daughter Acelyn, and Zachary Jones and his friend Jen Thomas; two great- grandchildren, Byron Morgan and Aubrey Jones; and sister, Rosa Lee Chaney of Harrington. Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, at the Fleischauer Funeral Home, 16 West Market Street, Greenwood. Family and friends may call one hour prior to services. Interment will be held at Blades Cemetery, Blades. Donations may be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriot's Way, Milford, DE 19963.
