Betty M. Johnston

DOVER - Betty M. Johnston of Dover, passed away, Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Kent General Hospital. She was 88. Mrs. Johnston was born November 16, 1927 in New Castle, to the late Robert Strawbridge and Mildred Mannering Strawbridge. She was a clerk at Boscov's Department Store in the Gift Department for six years. Mrs. Johnston was a member of Wesley United Methodist church in Dover. She enjoyed spending time with her family, taking long walks, eating out, and her furry friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Johnston in 1999; and son, George E. Green; and son in law, James E. Sudler. She is survived by her sons, Earl D. Green (Susan) of Wilmington and John R. Green (Joyce) of Milford; daughters, Beverly J. Collier of New Castle, Patti G. Sudler of Dover and Betsy Hebert (Colin) of Hatboro, Pa.; sister, Mildred Cole of New Castle; ten grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and daughter in law, Mary Ellen Green of New Castle. Family and friends are invited to join with us at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford Street, Dover. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, March 11, 2016, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will be in Silverbrook Cemetery, Wilmington at 1 p.m. The family suggests contributions be made to First State Animal Center SPCA, 34 Shelter Circle, Camden, DE 19934.
