MILFORD - Betty Lou Williams passed away Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. She was born in Milford on May 11, 1930, daughter of the late Herbert and Elizabeth (Wroten) Griffith. Betty was a full time homemaker, who shared willingly of her time and special talents in her community and church. She was a volunteer at the Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital Gift Shop and was in charge of choosing the jewelry sold there. Donned in her clown costume, Betty also lifted the spirits of many hospital patients young and old with her regular visits. She enjoyed her association with the Second Street Players in Milford helping with their productions, as well as having acting roles on stage. Betty was a devoted member of Avenue United Methodist Church where she was active in the sanctuary choir, the Esther Circle and helped with many other church activities. She was a member of the Milford Senior Center and Milford Bridge Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Harvey Williams in 2011; and her seven siblings, Nelson Griffith, Mildred Palmer, Genevieve Davis, Jeanette Betts, Joseph Griffith, Hazel Roberts, and Irene Yourgal. Betty is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Samuel H., Jr. and Celeste Williams, of Milford; two daughters and a son-in-law, Ivy J. and Keith M. Nauman, of Fenwick Island, and Dena I. Howard, of Milford; five grandchildren, Heather Cadwell and her husband, Jonathan, Brent Williams, Jason Nauman, Abby Nauman, and Jessie Howard; and a great-grandson, Tyler Cadwell. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017, at the Avenue United Methodist Church, 20 N. Church St, Milford, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Burial will follow the services in the Milford Community Cemetery on Route 113. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you take a moment to hug your child, grandchild, friend, or walk in the woods for a moment, an hour or a day. Time waits for no one.
