Betty Lou Seward, 75

HARTLY - Betty Lou Seward of Hartly died Tuesday, May 15, 2007, in her daughter's home, surrounded by her loving family. She was 75.

She was born March 15, 1932, in Hartly, daughter of the late Howard and Mary (Stafford) Schweitzer.

Betty was a retired school bus driver for Capital School District for 32 years. She, with her husband, owned and operated Seward's Store in Hartly for 45 years. Earlier in her working career, she worked for the Delaware Motor Vehicle and the Hartly Post Office.

She enjoyed camping, dancing and going to the slots.

Betty was a past member of the Hartly Ladies Auxiliary.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Olin T. Seward, on Feb. 12, 2006.

She is survived by two sons, Thomas Seward and his wife Sandi of Marydel, Md., and Donald Seward and his wife Sandy of Hartly; two daughters, Diane Gingerich and her husband Jake, and Barbara Forrest, with whom she lived, and her husband Joe of Hartly; her grandchildren, Jakey Gingerich, Karen Seward, Chris Smith, Joe Forrest and Chuck Forrest; five great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Madeline Wooleyhan of Templeville, Md.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may call one hour before services.

Burial will be in Templeville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
