GREENWOOD - Betty Jean "Jeannie" McDowell, passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, Mar. 22, 2017. She was the daughter of the late Hilbert and Mildred Lane Massey. Jeannie graduated from Bridgeville High School class of 1961. She was a devoted member of the Church of God of Prophecy. She loved spending time with family, fixing large meals around the table, laughing, and playing games. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, James B. McDowell; three siblings, Richard "Dickey" Massey, Doris Gordy, and Libby Williamson. She was survived by two sons, Mark and Michelle McDowell, and Edward and Rachel McDowell, both of Greenwood; two daughters, Cathy McDowell, of Greenwood, and Kelly and Chris Persons, of Bear; a granddaughter, Megan McDowell; a sister, Debbie and Robert Hagey, of Auburndale, Fla. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Mar. 29, 2017, at 1 p.m., at the Fleischauer Funeral Home, 16 West Market Street, Greenwood, DE 19950. Viewing will be held Tuesday, Mar. 28, 2017 from 7 to 9 p.m. Interment will be held at Bridgeville Cemetery.
