HARRINGTON - Betty Jane Dangler of Harrington died Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at her daughter"s home in Harrington. She was 79.
Born on her parents" farm in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Alice Vogel.
Mrs. Dangler was a school bus driver for the Bristol Township School in Pennsylvania for more than 20 years.
After retirement from driving buses, she became a crossing guard for the Lower Southampton Police until March 2006, when she became ill.
Mrs. Dangler moved to Delaware to live with her daughter, Donna, to recuperate from her illness, where she loved to sit on the porch to watch the deer and hummingbirds.
In her spare time, she enjoyed trying her luck at casinos.
Mrs. Dangler also enjoyed taking trips to Florida to spend time with her daughters, Betty and Linda.
She was an accomplished bowler and made it into the Guinness Book of World Records for a 700 series in 1978.
She was greatly loved and will be sadly missed by her family and close friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack J. Dangler.
She is survived by her son, Ernest Herwig of Langhorne, Pa.; daughters, Betty Lou Bonham and her husband, Will and Linda Lou Frazier, both of Fort Myers Beach, Fla., and Donnalee Whitaker and her husband, Brian of Harrington; a brother, Jack Vogel and wife, Emily of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; a sister, Lois Markmann of Feasterville, Pa.; seven grandchildren including, Michael Barton, David Barton, and Nikki Barton of Harrington; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Burial and services are private and at the convenience of the family.
Instead of flowers, due to the tremendous care that was given to Mrs. Dangler, donations are suggested to the Kent County Delaware Hospice, 911 South DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
Arrangements are by the Melvin Funeral Home, Harrington.
