DOVER - Betty Griffith Hayes (Betty Lou) passed away Sunday, November 6, 2022.
Betty was born in Dover on October 10, 1929, daughter of the late Milton and Mabel (Spence) Griffith.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life, Robert Hayes.
Betty and Bob owned and operated The Hayes Shop of Dover, DE and Betsy's in Rehoboth, DE, where they resided for 30 years. She enjoyed golf, playing bridge, and a party. She was a die-hard Phillies fan. In her life, family and friends came first.
She is survived by her two children, Susan H. Glanden of Dover, DE, and Peter G. Hayes of Milton, DE; her son-in-law, Don Glanden; and daughter-in-law, Theresa Hayes. Betty is also survived by four grandchildren, G. Hayes Glanden (Michele) Milton, DE, M. Elizabeth Glanden of Charleston, SC, Jakob M. Hayes of Milton, DE and Matthew D. Hayes, of Milton, DE; one great-granddaughter, Ellie G. Glanden of Milton, DE; and many nieces and nephews, including her special niece, Holly A. Budd.
A service will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at 11:00am, with a visitation beginning at 10:30am at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, DE.
Interment will be private.
