Betty E. Scarborough, 72
LAUREL - Betty E. Scarborough of Laurel went to be with the lord Friday, Feb. 23, 2007, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. He was 72.
Mrs. Scarborough was born near Shortly, daughter of the late Mack and Ruth Marvel.
She loved her family dearly and she loved gardening.
Mrs. Scarborough once operated a daycare in her home in Laurel and worked at the Blue Ridge Shirt Factory years ago.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Reese Marvel.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Leroy Scarborough; two sons, Ed Scarborough of Tarboro, N.C. and Corbet Scarborough of Laurel; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Brenda and John Whealton of Georgetown and Faith Ann and Mark Hartman of Laurel; a brother, George Marvel of Georgetown; sisters, Pauline Eskridge of Smyrna and Audrey Leggs of Laurel; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and special friends, Lewellyn Broome and Lotis and Jean Brewer.
A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home, 700 West St., Laurel, where friends may call one hour earlier.
The Rev. Andrew Kerr and Ron Jester will officiate.
Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Laurel.
