Bratcher, 82 PONDTOWN, Md. - Betty Audrey Bratcher of Pondtown, Md. died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014 at Shore Nursing and Rehabilitation in Chestertown, Md. She was 82. Betty A. Bratcher was born Jan. 10, 1932 in Brooklyn, New York the daughter of the late Walter Johnson Sr. and Julia "Hines" Johnson. Mrs. Bratcher was a 1949 graduate of Kennard High School. She married her late husband, Arnold Bratcher on Nov. 26, 1949 just out of High School and the two began their life together. In the 1960's she worked at the Campbell Soup factory and in 1973 she started working for the Queen Anne's Board of Education as a teacher's assistant for special needs children. During the same time she also drove a bus for Queen Anne's Board of Education. Mrs. Bratcher was very active in Mt. Pleasant U.M. Church where she served on the Usher Board and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She also was a local Girl Scout Leader. She enjoyed growing vegetables in her garden, crocheting, watching home cooking shows and going to yard sales. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Bratcher; and one brother, Reginald Johnson. She is survived by four daughters, Barbara Diane Bratcher of Kissimmee, Fla., Beverly Denise Moore of Smyrna, Del., Deborah Arlene Bratcher of Pondtown, Md., Leslie Virginia Bratcher of Speedway, Ind.; two sisters, Elaine Ringgold of Pondtown, Md., Bessie Johnson of Sudlersville, Md.; one brother, Walter Johnson Jr. of Goldsboro, Md.; four grandchildren, Stephanie Bratcher of Kissimmee, Fla., Ebony Adomanis of Beaver Creek, Ohio, Katina Walley of Pondtown, Md., Denise Moore of Smyrna, Del., and eight great grandchildren. Services will be 12 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014 at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Pondtown, Md. Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Interment will be held at the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock, Md. on Monday, Oct. 20, 2014 Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.fhnfuneralhome.com Arrangements by Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home 370 Cypress St. Millington, MD.
