It is with great sadness that the family of Betty Ann Burton Nailor announces her passing on Oct. 6, 2018 at the age of 84. Betty was born April 4, 1934, the daughter of the late Samuel and Amelia Burton in Rehoboth Beach. Betty retired from the Milford School District after many years of serving meals to the students in the cafeteria. Betty enjoyed selling Buc cards for the Milford High School Band, which she continued to do, even this year. Betty served as a Sunday School teacher at Aldersgate Wesleyan Church, as well as serving the Lord in many other ways. Whenever Betty met a stranger, they became a potential new friend. Betty is survived by her husband of 66 years, Preston L. Nailor Jr.; daughter Debbie (Frank) Clendaniel; son, Wayne (Sandy) Nailor; daughter, Darlene (Gene) Hitch; granddaughter, Annette Davis, her children Ashlynn and Sammy; granddaughter, Lisa Nailor, her children Justine and TJ; granddaughter, Karen (Woody) Story, her children Brooke, Logan, and Cheyanne; grandson, Preston W. Nailor; grandson, Eric Hitch; granddaughter, Betty (Charlene) Wright; sisters, Charlotte McDaniel, Ellen (Rick) Lynch; brother, John Burton; sister-in-law, Marge Burton; and brother-in-law, Danny Simpson; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Helen Nailor and Violet Simpson; brothers, Bob Burton and Fred Burton; sister-in-law, Joan Ritter Burton; and brothers-in-law, Lester Nailor and Oscar 'Mac' McDaniel. Betty peacefully passed on to be with the Lord, at home with her loving family gathered around, as her husband holding her and telling her that he loved her. Many people spoke of what a loving couple they were. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her family and her many friends. Betty touched and helped a lot of people in her life. Her footprints will continue to touch so many more. May God keep her safe in His arms. Friends and family may visit at Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford, DE 19963, on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral will be held on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2018 at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Milford Church of the Nazarene, 11 NW Salevan Pl, Milford, DE 19963, where friends may call after 3 p.m. Interment will follow at Milford Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation in Betty's memory to the Milford Church of the Nazarene, 11 Salevan Pl, Milford, DE 19963.
