Bettie Yvonne Walters

FRANKFORD - Bettie Yvonne Walters, 63, of here died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born in Frankford, she was the daughter of the late Daniel J. Tunnell and Ruth Helen Ames Tunnell. Her husband, James Walters, has preceded her in death. She was formerly employed as a cook at the Magnolia's Restaurant in Ocean View until the 1990's. She was a dedicated member of Union Wesley United Methodist Church where she served as a member of the Young Adult Choir, Wesley Camp Committee, Layspeaker Organization, chairperson of the Outreach Missions Ministry, and "Captain" of the Union Wesley Kitchen. Bettie also served on the Wesley Day Care Board of Directors and assisted with 4-H Club meetings. In the past, she served as chairperson of the Staff Parish Pastor Relations Committee, Finance Committee, Wesley Cemetery Committee, and United Methodist Women. Fond memories will remain with one son, Lorne Craig Tunnell; two brothers, Lewis C. (Laura) Tunnell and David L. Tunnell, all of Frankford; three sisters, Mary L. (Eugene) Mumford of Frankford, Janie Mae (Richard) Miller of Rehoboth Beach, and Ruth Dorsey of Millsboro; one sister-in-law, Bertie Armstrong of Whaleyville; two aunts, Evelyn Crawford of Philadelphia, Pa., and Mardella Dardon of Cape Charles, Va.; one grandson, Lorne Craig Trott of Frankford; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, in-laws, and friends. She has also been preceded in death by four brothers, Isaac D., Sonny, James T., and William C. Tunnell. She will lie in repose on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Union Wesley United Methodist Church on 16317 Farm Powell Road in Clarksville. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Rev. Rory Russell will be the Officiating Pastor. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
